The Duke of Weselton's Bodyguards are bodyguards to the Duke of Weselton, to protect and serve him at what seems to be all costs.

History

Coronation day

Greedy Duke

The Duke arrives in Arendelle with the bodyguards.

The bodyguards arrived alongside the Duke at Arendelle for the coronation festivities. They did not accompany him to the chapel, but were present in the Great Hall; though not around him when he was dancing with Anna, they are there when the Duke needed to dive behind someone from the ice spikes that Elsa created.

With the Duke, the men followed Elsa out to the Courtyard. There, the DUke shouts for someone to "stop her". Frightened, Elsa accidentally lets out another burst of magic which fomred over the stairs and caused the Duke and his guards to slip over. At that point, the Duke exclaims that Elsa is a "monster".

The bodyguards are just as unconvinced as the Duke is at Anna's defence of her sister.

The bodyguards enter the palace to confront her.

When the Duke became disillusioned at the whole situation, his guards went with him to confront Hans. They watched the two argue, but were powerless when Hans threatened their leader with treason. When Anna's horse arrived back in Arendelle without her, Hans requested men to volunteer to go and look for the princess with him. The Duke offered up his men to go on the search, but he gave them extra orders: should they encounter the queen, they were to "put an end to [the] winter".

Hans and the Duke

The bodyguards go with the Duke to confront Hans.

When they arrive at Elsa's Palace, Hans gives out the order to not harm the queen. The guards then look at each other, knowing that they were not to follow this order.

Ignoring Hans' orders to bring no harm to Elsa, they attempt to kill the queen when they have her cornered. However, Elsa initially and resistingly fights back with her abilities, soon pinning one of the bodyguards back against a wall with sharp ice spikes, threatening to pierce him through the neck, and nearly pushing the other off the balcony with a block of ice. As Elsa is about to kill them, Hans intervenes and calms Elsa. But as Elsa lowers her guard, the pinned guard attempts to shoot her with his crossbow. At the last moment, Hans disrupts his aim and the arrow above, causing it to shoot the chandelier. It falls to the ground and renders Elsa unconscious. The guards were not seen after returning Elsa to Arendelle, likely suspended as punishment for disobeying Hans' commands.

The Great Thaw

When Elsa finally removes the curse from Arendelle, the guards can be seen again along with the Duke being escorted back onto the ship for attempted murder of the Queen. As another comeuppance, the Duke is cut off from trading with Arendelle as he and his thugs are sent back to Weselton.

Personality

The Duke's bodyguards at first appear quite thuggish, but ever-loyal to the Duke. They follow him wherever he goes, mainly to ensure his safety. The two also seem as close-minded as the Duke; neither seem surprised at the Duke's agenda when they arrive in Arendelle, and they both express their discontent in Anna's words when she says that Elsa was scared and that it wasn't her fault. They are then as pleased as the Duke when Anna says that she should be the one to go after Elsa.

With a like-minded approach similar to Duke's, they fully understand what he is asking of them when he gives them the order to "put an end to [the] winter". Their unquestionable loyalty to the Duke holds out at the palace; rather than aid Hans and the guards with Marshmallow, they immediately change their tact and go after Elsa. They carry out their orders to the full, with one of the men, wanting to get the job done quickly and cleanly, firing his bolt directly at Elsa's head. It would have been done like that, had she not shielded herself with a wall of ice. They continued to persist, but as Elsa knew that it was coming down to her or them, she soon showed no restraint, swiftly breaking the attack. Adamant not to be defeated, the guards continued. Whilst one did all he could to stop himself from being pushed off of the balcony, the other - pinned to a wall - began to raise his crossbow for another shot. Hans' timely intervention saw this attempt on Elsa's life also fail. When Elsa was in the dungeons, Hans hinted that he had put her there not just for the peoples' safety, but for hers; if Elsa were able to walk about freely, the bodyguards may make another attempt on the queen's life.

Abilities

The bodyguards are very well trained in the use of crossbows, and are able to use them with deadly accuracy.
