"Frozen Heart" is a song written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez and sung by the cast of Frozen in the 2013 Disney animated film.

During the song the ice harvesters worked throughout the course of a day to gather ice to sell in Arendelle. As the older harvesters worked, young Kristoff and his reindeer, Sven focused on obtaining their own load, though they only managed to secure a single block before night fell.

Lyrics[]

Born of cold and winter air
And mountain rain combining...
This icy force both foul and fair
Has a frozen heart worth mining

So cut through the heart cold and clear
Strike for love and strike for fear
See the beauty, sharp and sheer
Split the ice apart!
And break the frozen heart

Hyup!
Ho!
Watch your step!
Let it go!

Hyup!
Ho!
Watch your step!
Let it go!

Beautiful!
Powerful!
Dangerous.
Cold!

Ice has a magic can't be controlled
Stronger than one! Stronger than ten!
Stronger than a hundred men!

Hyup!

Born of cold and winter air
And mountain rain combining!
This icy force both foul and fair
Has a frozen heart worth mining!

Cut through the heart cold and clear!
Strike for love and strike for fear!
There's beauty and there's danger here
Split the ice apart!
Beware the frozen heart ...

Trivia[]

  • There is also an instrumental version of "Frozen Heart".
  • The song sets out many of the themes in the movie.[1]
  • The song foreshadows many moments in the movie such as it notes the line "And break the frozen heart" is potent as it foreshadows in an unsubtle manner the metaphorical and literal frozen hearts of Elsa and Anna respectively. "Strike for love and strike for fear" is also an important line, as "Love and fear are the two counter-balances of this whole story.
  • The end of "Frozen Heart"'s instrumental is repeated at the end of "For the First Time in Forever (Reprise)".
