The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic is an hour-long documentary special about the making of Frozen and its impact, first shown on September 2, 2014, on ABC.

The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic premiered on the ABC Television Network on September 2, 2014, at 8:00 pm ET/PT. The special provided a behind-the-scenes look at the process of making Frozen.

The special was narrated by Josh Gad, who voiced Olaf. It featured interviews with the cast and crew of Frozen, including Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, the directors, animators, songwriters, producer, and chief creative officer John Lasseter. The interviews highlighted the extensive collaborative effort and research required to bring both the characters and setting to life. Viewers were also given insight into the struggle to define the character of the Snow Queen, which was a long-held dream of Walt Disney. It was 70 years between its inception as a conecpt at Disney and the making of Frozen. The entirety of the special was accompanied by music from the film's original soundtrack.

At the end of the special an exclusive look at was given for Disney's next upcoming film, Big Hero 6 and there was a special announcement for a short animated sequel to Frozen entitled Frozen Fever.
