Description

The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic premiered on the ABC Television Network on September 2, 2014 at 8:00 pm ET/PT. The special provided a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to make the most successful animated film to date.

The special was narrated by Frozen star Josh Gad, who voiced Olaf. It featured interviews with the cast and crew of Frozen like Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, the directors, animators, songwriters, producer, and chief creative officer John Lasseter; the interviews highlighted the extensive collaborative effort and research required to bring both the characters and setting to life. Viewers were also given insight into how the struggle to define the character of the Snow Queen resulted in Walt Disney's dream of bringing Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, The Snow Queen, taking nearly 70 years to come true. The entirety of the special was accompanied by music from the film's original soundtrack.

At the end of the special, viewers were given an exclusive look at Disney's upcoming movie, Big Hero 6 and there was a special announcement for a short animated sequel to Frozen entitled Frozen Fever.
